Our Consumer Electronics Repair specializes in the repair, servicing, and upgrading of NJ Public and Private Schools PARCC testing compliant Chromebooks, Notebooks and Computers

Softnetworks can troubleshoot, fix, and service your computer for less!

Benefits of Self-Insuring your PCs with Softnetworks over purchasing Manufacturers or Alternate Extended Warranties

In a recently updated article, Consumer Reports writes, “You might be tempted to buy a service plan – also known as extended warranty – on your next laptop, dishwasher, or a new or used car.  But chances are that what you spend will be money down the drain.

Later in their article, Consumer Reports recommends the practice of self-insuring devices, which reduces the risk of losing money.  That process of self-insuring is exactly what we offer at Softnetworks.  Our self-insuring plans* are quite simple. Instead of paying a large lump sum upfront for an extended warranty, you send us a purchase order for repairs and/or service to cover a specified time frame – typically 6 months. Our staff will perform all repairs and service during the specified time frame and, at the end of that period, will only bill you for actual work that was done and the cost of replacement parts.  By self-insuring with SoftNetworks, you only pay for actual services rendered and nothing else.

As an example, if you work at a school and purchase sixty (60) Chromebooks with an extended warranty for each at a hypothetical unit cost of $80/3 years, you will pay $1,600.00/year for peace of mind.  Now let’s pretend that you had a very unlikely 75% repair rate over the course of 3 years; your organization would have thrown away $1,200.00 that could have been used elsewhere.  Realistically, your repair rate would probably be less than 40% and the amount of wasted money would significantly increase.

With our self-insuring plans, you can relax knowing that your repairs and service will be taken care of at an affordable cost, saving money for you, your school, or your business.

We offer a full repair service for notebooks and computers.  Our repair technicians for Chromebook, Notebook, and PARCC testing devices can also service and repair your Samsung, Apple iPad, iPad 2, 3 and 4, Android, Dell, HP, and IBM notebooks, among others.

Some of the more typical Notebook and Chromebook problems that will most likely require repair and/or servicing, which we can assist you with, include:

Notebook / Chromebook LCD screen issues:

  • LCD Screen Replacement – if the LCD screen is cracked, it needs to be replaced
  • LCD is dim – this indicates a problem with the light bulb, inverter board, cable or motherboard
  • LCD shows blank or incorrect color
  • LCD does not show an image unless it is connected to an external monitor
  • LCD produces flickering horizontal or vertical lines across the screen

Notebook / Chromebook liquid spill(s):

  • For safety reasons and to prevent any further damage to the device, DO NOT turn on a device’s power, or try to remove any of its components or parts, IF you have spilled fluid of any kind (water, apple juice, coffee, etc.) into your laptop.

Notebook / Chromebook motherboard issues:

  • DC Power Jack Repair – one of the most common motherboard problems.  May be related to the AC/DC jack, power connector, and/or the plug being burned, broken or loose.
  • Device will not power up
  • Device has power but will not boot up
  • Device has power but has no video or will not play
  • Device, or apps on device, hangs up or shuts down by itself
  • Device has been dropped and is no longer working, or is working inconsistently

Notebook / Chromebook hardware upgrades and operating system:

  • Memory (DDR/DDR2/DDR3/DIMM/PC100)
  • Hard drive internal storage (IDE/ATA, SATA – try 320GB!)
  • Optical drive replacement and upgrade (CD/RW, DVD+- R/RW, DVD-RAM)
  • Microsoft Windows (98/ME/2000/XP/Home/Pro/Vista)

1) Softnetworks provides warranties for 90 days after repair on our workmanship and our replaced parts.  Should we originally deliver a defective part, we will provide a new part and offer no charge for the part or the labor needed to replace it.

2) If, during the warranty period, a part that fails is different than the part that we replaced, it would be considered a new repair to fix it.  For example, if we replaced a cracked screen on a Notebook and returned the unit fully functional, but the unit is then found to have a bad keyboard or motherboard, it would be considered a new repair.

3) After returning a repaired unit, any NEW damage due to abuse, dropping, spills, or any other extraneous circumstances would be considered a new repair request and would be billable.
